A New Chapter

So yeah, I learned something today. I've learned it's time for a change. And I also learned that I've been too caring. It's over now, done, finished.

New Computer

So my new computer is up and running. It's nice I have to say. I can finally play the newest games in high resolution at the highest possible settings, I also just bought Half Life 2: GoTY Edition. Ahh, it's nice. I'll post pics (of the computer) sometime soon. Anyway, I should have gone to bed over an hour ago.

Quote of the Day: "Time for some thrilling heroics." -Jayne

Halloween

It's past midnight now, so it was technically "yesterday", but today was a great day. No work, no classes, just a lot of doing nothing and having fun. I woke up around 10, and just sat around until about 2pm. From there I did some stuff, and then went to Cory's. We hung out for a while and then Brendan came over, we picked up Sarah, and we were ready to go on our trick or treating adventure. Also, Josh and Carol met up with us at the beginning and joined our party. We had our costumes and were ready to go.

Afterwords, Cory and Carol left and we played a little bit of Ghost Recon, and then over an hour of Halo 2 on two Xboxes over Xbox Live. Right after that we watched Army of Darkness (the theatrical version). Awesome stuff. Overall a good night. Also, Intel shipped my motherboard and processor, and they should be here tomorrow... woot!

Quote of the Day:
Marge: Homer, there's someone here who can help you...
Homer: Is it Batman?
Marge: No, he's a scientist.
Homer: Batman's a scientist!
Marge: It's not Batman!

So I'm updating again.

Tomorrow is Halloween, one of my favorite holidays of the year. It's a shame I can't get everyone to go out and have a fun time, but some people have their reasons. But tomorrow I'm going to go trick or treating with a bunch of friends and have a good time. You can never be too old!

You know what I don't like? When people totally ignore you and expect you to do everything, and then when you do something, they complain because you don't do it their way. Except they don't complain to you, they just attempt to hide it from you when it's really obvious they aren't happy, and then you find out about their complaints through a third party source. I have to admit, I'm very glad they took the honest route. And that my friend -- is sarcasm. You know what else grinds my gears? Poor communication. Language is humankind's greatest invention: try using it. You'd be surprised at how people have the ability to react, change, adapt, and come together depending on your use of the English language and your suggestions or comments while using it.

I really don't like it when someone close to me has a big problem with the way I do certain things and doesn't tell me. That drives me insane.

On a much lighter note, I ordered the final parts for my computer. I can't wait until Serenity is complete (Who doesn't name their computer these days, unless you're a ZOMG n00b of course). I spent about three times as much on shipping so I can overnight the package, hopefully it will be here on Tuesday.

Quote of the Day: "No power in the 'verse can stop me." -River

On my way to work today...

...and I got stuck in a huge traffic jam on 81 because people are idiots and slow way the hell down when there's construction. That pisses me off so much. So I call work to let them know I'm going to be late, and they say I'm not working. I asked for today off, but when the schedules came out I was scheduled 11-10:30. Looks like it was changed though and no one told me about it.

At least I got the day off, but that traffic jam wasted a shitload of gas. Slow moving traffic (especially stop and go) obliterates my MPG.

Quote of the day:
George: Correct me if I'm wrong but, mission accomplished!
Rube: You're wrong.
Nothing personal, but I hate Ciara as a person.

I hate her music so much. As if the modern day R&B genre wasn't bad enough already, she had to go and release her horseshit upon the unsuspecting mainstream American consumer that will buy into anything shitty enough to put on a compact disk. Sure, the older R&B is fine, I have no beef against it. But the crap that's been coming out the last five years is so bad, it makes me want to kick the record companies in the face. The song "Goodies" is the worst thing I have ever heard in my life. I would pay hundreds of dollars if I never had to listen to it again.

I feel dirty.

Sorry Nintendo, but the Revolution Controller is a horrible idea. A TV remote design with two face buttons and a D-pad? Ouch. Sure you've got the plug in analog stick, and the gyro system. But still, that can only get you so far. Establish genres such will be totally unplayable on this system. Sure, it will lead to some original games, but chances are: these original games will play like tech demos and will rely on gimmicks and minigames. You've lost touch with your consumer base Nintendo. And what's the deal with the ugly ass iPod white color? Enough of that shit already.

I feel dirty, four years ago I was a die hard Nintendo fan, and now, they've almost lost me. GameCube's first two years were strong, we got Metroid Prime, Rogue Leader, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Sunshine, Eternal Darkness, Wind Waker, Pikmin, Phantasy Star Online Ep1 & 2, and a bunch of others. But then it started slipping into the world of gimmicks and cheese.

And now... I'm more hyped up for the Xbox 360 than anything. If you go back 4 years and tell me that I would be so hyped up for the successor to Xbox, I would have laughed at your future-self, and then gotten some lottery numbers. Sure, Nintendo is trying to reinvent, but they're reinventing a market that's still on the rise. There is no need to reinvent games, right now we're getting some of the best games of all time. Why change that? The Xbox 360 is everything I could want in a sytem. An extremely comfortable wireless extension to the established conventional controller design, the most powerful graphics (even though PS3 will probably match the Xbox 360 graphically), the best online system out there which is already established with over 2 million gamers. They also have some of the most powerful current franchises mostly thanks to their internal studios and Ubisoft. On top of that you've got a sytem with an extremely innovative dashboard and digital media extender platform. I can't wait.

Sorry Nintendo. I'll still be buying the Revolution, but I hope you get your shit together.

Quote of the Day: "Sending things to Earth... Boats... Whales... Toasters...
I accomplished nothing today.

I woke up at 11am, sat on the computer for two hours doing nothing. Then I picked up Cory and went to the bank and Burger King where I got a huge ass value meal with a big vanilla milkshake -- and it was all I ever imagined it could be and more. Wow. After the Burger King I grabbed good old Mark V Cordelia: 9, my trusty potato gun. We headed to Cory's, grabbed a bunch of apples off a tree, and launched them into the air. Fun stuff. Afterwords, we just did random crap until I came back home and now here I am, writing this.

I accomplished nothing today, and you know what, it feels great. I love looking back on a day knowing I did absolutely fucking nothing. It's wonderful.

Quote of the Day:
Lois: Oh, Peter!
Happy 9/11 Everyone!

Today was a much better day than yesterday. I woke up and it was cold as hell (and from what I've heard, hell isn't exactly the pizza oven it's been hyped up to be). So I grabbed some clothes and got in the shower as quickly as I could. Okay, so the day started off like crap. But it gets better. Josh (co-worker) is back from California, it's good to hang out with him at work again. Today was a much more relaxed day, which is good, because my dogs were barkin'. I got home, and hung out with James for a while. And then I went online, and that's what I've been doing since. Also, our Commander in Chief's approval rating has dropped to a historic low -- 39%. Haha.

I have the day off tomorrow, and so far, no one's contacted me yet, so it looks like I'm going to be doing absolutely nothing all day. How awesome is that? And no, that wasn't sarcasm. I love doing nothing, since I never get the chance to do nothing anymore. I think I'm going to go to the grocery store and buy a few bags of potatos, and then give my potato gun a little bit of action. Hopefully this won't be the last time before winter, but just in case...

Quote of the Day: "I'd say I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not.
This week sucked.

So this week was shitty. I had school all day Tuesday and Thursday. I had about 35 hours of work on the other days. So basically, I had absolutely no free time. And another great thing, this coming Saturday, I am working open to close (that's 9:30am to 10:30pm). This is the day we get in the truck (shipment of stuff) and the day the sales tags for the next week are updated. I am working this entire day, by myself! Horseshit.

I also have a bunch of bills to pay this week, $50 for cellphone, $50 for Xbox Live, $50 for student loan, and $50 for eBay seller fees. God dammit that's $200!! If I still buy that subwoofer this week, there's no way I can buy anything else. F'ing gas prices... I'll just have to bring lunch everywhere I go. No buying anything. That means games, DVDs, whatever. I have to lay off for at least two weeks.

The only good thing that happened this week was hanging out with Susan at the Fair. Except that the Fair is a boring place to go, since it's a big infomercial you pay to get into. Hopefully another place another time, right Susan?

Rock 'n Bowl

Saturday night was fun, I went to a Flamingo Bowling out in Liverpool with some friends, met a bunch of new people, had a good time. Like most times at Rock 'n Bowl everyone gradually loses interest in bowling, and starts doing other stuff towards the end, but it was a fun night. On Sunday, Brendan came over, we played Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike, and then watched Kentucky Fried Movie. Then Chris came over, we played some Halo 2, and then we went to Cory's where we played Ghost Recon 2: SS, and then went to his house and watched Sin City. Those days when you just do absolutely nothing productive, I'm going to miss those when school starts.

Speaking of school starting next week, I have something to say: DAMMIT!
I realize I completely neglect this journal, oh well. The last time I updated this thing was in late June. It's now mid-August. And school starts very soon. This summer started off slow, but the last couple of weeks have gone by incredibly fast. I do not want to go back to classes. My sophmore year of college is the last thing I want to attend to. Speaking of which, I got a letter today saying they unregistered me because I haven't paid yet (oops), so now I have to physically go down there, and re-register for my classes. Dammit. Plus they want me to pay some stupid fee.

First off, I don't even want to be there, I'm only going to classes because it's "the thing to do." I don't plan on sticking around doing shitty Computer Science, because it sucks, and is a waste of my time. I don't plan on making a career out of it, so why am I bothering wasting time and money studying it? Well, because I don't know what the hell I want to do. The only thing that interests me is sitting around hanging out with friends, playing videogames, watching movies, and going out and having fun at places. You can't get money doing that. But no "career paths" interest me at all. I thought maybe Computer Science would be something back when I was in HS, but having never studied it before, I didn't know shit about it. Now I know it's incredibly easy, but also incredibly boring and tedius at the same time. I don't like programming, it sucks.

I'd like to start up my own business doing Home Theater installations and service, but I don't even know where to start to do something like that. And even then, I may not be interested in that path 2 years from now. I probably will, but who knows. I just don't want to do any kind of career where I have to take Calculus, I hate Calc with a burning fury. If I actually tried in the class, it wouldn't be hard, but I just dispise it too much to do so.

So right now, I'm just putting classes on the back burner, and just going because I have to. But all I'm really thinking about, what's in the front of my mind, is finding a girlfriend who I can care for, and cares about me, and playing videogames. If I can fullfill those two, I really don't care what else is happening.

Quote of the Day: Time...line? Time isn't made out of lines! It is made out of circles. That is why clocks are round. -Caboose

I Eat Glue

The LAN party on Saturday was awesome. We played from around 3 until around 3am, it was pretty much the best fricken' sweet LAN party I've been to. With its success I'm going to host another one sometime in July. By then I will have the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Expansion pack, so I will pass that around and put all 9 new maps on everyone's Xbox. That will be fun. We played some original Halo CE too, we played a Sidewinder CTF match, which was awesome. We played Ghost Recon 2 (which was awesome on LAN), and the headsets weren't working so we used my two-way radios. While talking, some random woman started using our channel. I said "Watch that corner" shot the baddie, and said "Man down" and then some random woman comes onto your channel and says "What's down?" Hahaha. So we kept playing the mission normally, talking about grenades, reloading, shooting, placing bombs, and enemy fire. She was pretty confused.

I also want to go to Darien Lake sometime in July. I've wanted to go for a while now. Fun place, fun place.

Anywho, I am also thinking about moving my TV and some of my systems downstairs. With the couch, and more space, it would work great. Especially if I clear all of the crap out of there. Then we could have a whole downstairs for a LAN party. Get like 6 Xboxes hooked up or something, hells yes.

Quote of the Day:
Cpt. McNeil: I like the cut of your jib.
Homer: What's a jib?
Cpt.
LAN Party Tomorrow

Tomorrow I have my first official, unofficial LAN party. We're going to get a lot of Halo, Halo 2, Ghost Recon 2, Counter-Strike, Mechassault, Chaos Theory, and possibly a couple others in. If anyone here knows us, we will be playing Halo 2 most of the time. Haha. Hells yes, this is going to be awesome.

I lost my cellphone. So I'm going to buy another one. Cost isn't too much of a concern for me, but it just sucks because I lost all of my contacts and numbers. I bet that stupid thing will turn up right after I buy a new phone. Also, I offially own 170 games now. This figure does not include games I have multiple copies of (which is a whole bunch). I have three copies of Beyond Good and Evil. One for each console. Hail to the king, baby.

Quote of the Day:
Homer: Got any of that beer that has candy floating in it? You know, Skittlebrau?
Apu: Such a beer does not exist, sir. I think you must have dreamed it.
Homer: Oh. Well, then just give me a six-pack and a couple of bags of Skittles.

So Here's The Deal

Today, an utterly pointless day with a cool thunderstorm and a visit from my favorite delivery company, UPS. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but I'm biased towards UPS. They rock. If I was having a birthday party, and I could only invite 2 delivery companies, it would be UPS and the USPS. DHL just doesn't hang out with me enough, and Fed Ex sucks. Seriously, Fed Ex can get hit by a UPS truck for all I care.

Anywho, getting back to the topicless at hand. It's hot out. And I got my new subwoofer today. The thing is a beast. It's insanely massively gigantic. I can't wait until my new Denon 1705 receiver gets here later this week. Dude, that thing is a $399.99 receiver that pumps out 110W per channel rated at 6 ohms. High current amplification, video and audio (obviously) switching, and it even upscale converts a composite or S-Video signal to component, woah. Even the Fonz would be impressed, woah. Of course I didn't pay anywhere near that $400 mark, I paid half that. But still, "ouch", says my bank account. But it was worth it! Now I'm going to have an insanely huge subwoofer and stuff. Seriously, that subwoofer weighs 30 pounds. 30 pounds! And it has a rating of 27 hz to 150 hz, and peaks at 150W. This thing is going to tear my room a new one. I can't wait until that receiver comes so I can hook it up. My current Kenwood receiver is cheap and doesn't even have a pre-amp out for subwoofers. If you are in the mood for crapping your pants, check these beans out: Clickidy-clank dis link

Quote of the Day: "Weaseling out of things is important to learn.
Summary of Saturday and Sunday

Saturday sucked. I had to wake up at 7am to get to work (and I got to bed at 4am). With three hours of sleep, I woke up, zombie-walked downstairs for a shower, and then got a nosebleed. After it stopped, the other side of my nose started bleeding. What the sam hill?! Finally got it to stop, and took a shower, went to work. The first three hours I was there I had to rearrange a place that is very neglected and very dusty and dirty and messy, "Cool Gadgets". My hands had a lot of microscopic cuts on them, making it feel like they were on fire. Ouch. During work, I sneezed, and got a mild nosebleed, but I just went to the bathroom and it stopped. I left at 5:30, had to stop at Home Depot for some 14 gauge speaker wire for my surrounds, and then get my new pair of contacts. Got home around 7 and I paid my cellphone bill. This sucks, within a couple hours I had to spend almost $100. God damn I hate that shit. Then at home that night I got two more nosebleeds, and then passed out on my bed around 9am because I didn't have enough energy to even fully breathe. I felt like I was floating and very dizzy. I realize my mistake of Saturday now, the entire day all I ate was a turkey sandwhich. Which was probably a horrible idea since I lost so much blood. I would have eaten more food, but I'm too lazy, and I didn't have enough energy to drive anywhere and buy food.

Woke up at 10am on Sunday, with a tiny bit of energy. Just enough to gather it up in half an hour and stumble into the kitchen to eat a bunch of bananas. I played a lot of KOTOR with Josh on Sunday, and it took until around 7pm for me to feel "not dizzy and blood losty" anymore.

Today is Monday, and I feel normal again. A tiny bit lightheaded, but I barely notice it unless I concentrate on it. But today is good news, I get my Onkyo 150W subwoofer today, wooo, go UPS tracking.

Quote of the Day: "Church, women are like Voltron; the more you hook up, the better it gets." -Tucker

Things happening and such.

So me and Nicole are done now, how long was that? Not even three weeks? I'm a real long-term person. It was a mutual agreement, but she doesn't like that I work a lot, and I don't like that she has no freedom. So it was teh doomed anyway. Eh, These things happen.

Anyway, you hosers will be happy to know I'm no longer buying that digital camera. No, in fact my co-worker and future graphics designer Mr. Eric Jam Reppi asked me a question dealing with my camera: "...do you take a lot of pictures?" I thought about it for a second, and no. I really don't. Sure, I like taking cool pictures when I'm out in picturesque situations and places, but that isn't often enough to warrant the purchase of a $400 camera. So instead of foolishly squandering my money like some sort of foolish squanderer would do, I am buying new surround sound equipment. New 12 gauge oxygen free speaker wire, a 660 Watt 6.1 Denon receiver with optical and component switching with up-scale conversion, and a 150 Watt Onkyo SKW200 powered subwoofer. I will eventually buy some PRIMUS 140's from Infinity, with my awesome 60% discount I'll get them for around $40 each, bringing the total to around $160 for bookshelf surrounds. But then comes the matter of the center channel. I can get an Infinity Alpha for around $80. But the new speakers won't be for a while. I'll buy some speaker mounts and just hold onto them until around August for when I buy the new speakers. Maybe I'll ask for the center channel for my birthday. Haha, a speaker for my birthday. For some reason the thought of that is funny. I just realized I talked about fucking home theater equipment more than a relationship I was in. How backwards is my life? Hahaha.

Also, I got thinking today. Our camping gear and bike storage room downstairs is the perfect size and shape for a dedicated home theater room. Maybe I should save my money and turn that room into a movie theater with a DLP projector, and buy a 9 foot wide screen, and get some nice equipment. Maybe I could even get something similar to Dark-007's. (Click that link) Haha, yeah, I can't afford that, but it's wishful thinking. The Scirocco is going to keep getting put off, I wonder if I'll ever get that puppy fixed up? :O

Quote of the Day:
Sarge: We're going too slow, we have to leave someone behind!
Grif: Not it!
Simmons: Not it!
Donut: What? No way! You're leaving me behind?!
Sarge: Sorry Donut, but military law is very clear in regards to the "not it" methodology for making decisions.

America, Fuck Yeah!

Hooray for Netflix, today I got Team America: World Police. And after I do a little shrinking and decrypting, I'm going to watch it. This week has been a different one. Nicole and I are unofficially, officially, going out. I'm going to go to a rock 'n bowl with her (and probably her friends too) tonight. Oh, and I sold a bunch of stuff on ebay this week. I'm thinking about buying a new digital camera, I'm leaning towards the Panasonic DMC-FZ5.

Quote of the Day: "I'm not really in the market for new friends, I'm not sure I'm happy with the current crop." -Simmons

Sold My Pocket PC

I sold my Pocket PC. I couldn't use it at school because of the way their network is setup, and plus, as flipping cool as it is, I don't really use it that much to justify holding on to this $200+ device. So I sold it to someone on cheapassgamer.com.

Quote of the Day:
Church: There's no "I" in team Grif.
Grif: Yeah, there's no "U" either.
Strange me.

People that know me know I love winter, I always look forward to it. But this year, it isn't the case. This year, I just want winter to end. It's been here for what seems like an eternity (probably because it started so late), but I just want it to end. Also, I watched I Robot, which is an awesome movie. I loved it. Go rent it or buy it right now. The week of Feb 27th - March 5 at Circuit City, I Robot is on sale for $12.99, an unheard of price, so go get it there.
I don't really have much else to say right now. I wish I had a time lapse camera for my room. My room is so much cooler than it used to be. :p

Quote of the Day:
Fry: I'm so confused.
Most Boring Day At Work Ever

It was so effing slow at work today. I couldn't believe how dead it was. Time went by at 1/20th the speed it should normally go by at. Horrible! Also, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is awesome, go out and buy it right now. No, that's not an excuse, but it anyway. Anyway, that's about it.
